   Introduction:-

 

  The department of Neuro Surgery was opened in 1992, with full-fledged facilities par with best centers. It is capable of handling any challenging Neuro surgical problems, it is supported by most modern operation theatre with highly sophisticated operation table, State of art operating Microscope, Drill system, Various types of cauteries, Endo Scopic instruments, Most modern intensive care unit with central Oxygen Suction, Ventilators and CT Scan Head.

The department was started by Dr.GNANADAS

MBBS – Medical college,  Alleppey.
MS (Gen.Surgery) -  Medical college Trivandrum.
M.ch (Neuro surgery) - Medical college Trivandrum.
Dip NB (Neuro Surgery) – National Board Delhi.
Lecturer in Neuro Surgery, Trivandrum Medical College from 1984 to 1992.

 

 

   Awards:-

 

1.     Best Medical teacher 1987, on the basis of Essay competition conducted by KGMCTA – “ Topic – Casualty Emergency Management ”.

 

 

   Specialized training:-

 

1.     Spinal Instrumentation.

 

2.     Trans – sphenoidal surgery.

 

3.     Intra cranial Aneurysm surgery.

 

   Training Abroad :-

 

1.     Under gone young Neuro Surgeons training programme at Japan under Prof. Tisto Kanno.

 

 

   Research programme :-

 

1.     Study of raised intra cranial pressure in severe Head Injury and  its effect on outcome.

1.     Presented 10 paper in National level and 20 papers at state level.

 

2.     Organized State Conference of Neurological Society of India, Kerala chapter in 1995 October at Perinthalmanna.
