Moulana Hospital commenced its services in 1990 with an intention of setting up a Super Speciality Referral Hospital with modern facilities and services and today it has gained confidence of the public at large and especially the needy patients of Malabar.

Now it reached a level of Super Speciality Referral Hospital with modern facilities and services and an inpatient capacity of 450 beds.   The works of the ten storeyed building is in progress.  The total bed strength will come to 700 on completion of the project.

We have Super Speciality Departments like Neurosurgery, Neurology, Urology, Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Nephrology, Gastro Enterology, Respiratory Medicine and Allergic Diseases apart from other speciality Departments.  Please refer the list of Departments and the List of Doctors for your ready reference in Annexure I & II respectively.

We  have started the Department of Cardiovascular & Throracic Surgery – First in Malappuram District, IVF-ICSI facilities by the help of Australian Embryologist in the Dept. of Infertility and Excimer Lasik Laser facility in the Dept. of Ophthalmology.

To furnish the facilities in Cardiology, We have arranged flat pannel Cathlab (First time in Kerala), IABP, T.E.E Probe etc...

We have a well equipped Casualty and Poly Trauma Unit.  We have ten well equipped Operation Theatres, Surgical Intensive Care Unit, Neurosurgical Intensive care Unit, Transplant Intensive Care Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Cardio Vascular Surgery Intensive Care Unit, Intensive Coronary Care Unit Neurology Intensive care Unit, Respiratory Intensive Care Unit, Critical Care Unit, Twin Labour Room, New Born Nursery, ORT Centre, Computerized Full fledged Pharmacy, Computerized Laboratory, Physiotherapy Unit, Mobile ICU service, Physical Fitness Centre  etc…

We are conducting almost all major surgeries especially CABG, Valve replacement Surgery, ASD Closure, Renal Transplant Surgery, Total Knee & Hip Replacement Surgery, etc…  We are also performing Laparoscopic Surgeries and Endoscopic Procedures.  We have performed the largest number of Laparoscopic Surgeries in Kerala State including Paediatric Laparoscopic Surgeries.

We are actively participating in all the Government Health and Family Welfare Programmes like Informal Education, Health Education, Immunization Programme, Integrated Child Development Programmes, National Blind Control

 Programmes Polio Eradication Programme, National Leprosy Control Programme etc.

 The National Task Force has selected our Hospital as Baby Friendly Hospital.

 This is also a Women and Child Friendly Hospital.

 We  are running a  School of Nursing  approved  by  Government of Kerala  and  Kerala  Nurses’  and Midwives’  Council, Trivandrum and also BSc Nursing,BSc(Medical Laboratory Technician) affliated to Calicut University. Also we run the courses like  Diploma in Operation Theatre Technology and Diploma in Radiology Technics.

We are imparting training to Students from Mahatma Gandhi University and Calicut University in the Departments of Radiology, Laboratory, Bio-medical Engineering, Physiotherapy, Hospital Administration etc.

We are systematically and periodically conducting a lot of Academic Activities like Clinical Meeting Presentation of cases, Live Demonstrations of Rare Surgeries, Workshops for Doctors, Inservice Course for Nurses etc.  We are publishing a Medical News Bulletin  “Moulana Medi News”.  We impart Training for Surgeons in Laparoscopic Surgery.

We are doing a lot of Community Outreach Programmes and other Public Health Programmes with the co-operation of Doctors, Paramedical Staff, and participation of various Socio Cultural organizations.   Please refer the list of Community Outreach Programmes attached.

We have set up an Eye Bank under Eye Bank Association of India to promote eye donation & corneal transplant. We have a well arranged Public Relations Department for all Liaison works, Public Relations and Patient Relations

COMMUNITY OUTREACH  PROGRAMMES

UNDER MOULANA CHARITABLE TRUST

 Moulana hospital, perinthalmanna is a super speciality Referral Hospital with modern facilities and survices and an incapacity of 350 beds.  We are doing the following community Outreach programmes and other public health Programmes from the very beginning of our hospital i.e. from 1990 with the co-operation of Doctors, Paramedical staff, Social and Cultural Organization, under Moulana Charitable Trust. 

We have registered a Charitable Society by name Moulana Charitable Society and its Document no: 213 of book 1V 1996 and all free works are done under this Charitable Society.  Funds for free works and services are diverted from Hospital Revenue only.  We have not received any external funds from any agency till now.  Manpower under utilized for want of Medical Equipment’s.

Needs: -  (1) Procurement of Medical Equipment’s and Vehicles needed for stepping up       

                     Free works/services.

                (2) More funds are needed for community outreach programmes.

FREE EYE CAMPS

We are regularly conducting at least 3-eye camp in a month and also conducting Cataract Surgeries at our hospital.  We have proud to announce that Moulana Hospital stands First place in the district for the last 7 years in doing Cataract Operation.

FREE GENERAL MEDICAL CAMPS

We are conducting free general medical camps once in a month. Our Consultant Doctors of ENT, Orthopedics, Paediatrics, Dermatology, Chest Desease, General Medicine and General surgery department will be attending the camps.  We are doing the Laboratory, Radiology, and other investigations free of charges for the referring cases from the free medical camps. 

FREE SUPER SPECIALITY CAMPS

Once in three month we are conducting this type of camps with our Super Speciality Departments like Cardiology, Urology, Neurology Neuro Surgery, Gastroenterology, Nephrology and Pulmonerology.

FREE POLIO RE-CONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY CAMPS

We are conducting free Polio Re-Constructive Surgery for the poor patients those who are detected from the Free Medical Camps

 FREE ORAL AND FACIO-MAXILLARY SURGERY

Once in a year we are conducting OFMS Camps and doing free Oral and Facio-Maxillary Surgery for eligible poor patients.

MARF (MOULANA ACCIDENT RELIEF FORCE)

We have constituted a Volunteer Core in the name “Moulana Accident Relief Force” (MARF).  This is to help the Accident victims to save their life within the “GOLDEN HOUR”.  We have already given FIRST AID Training for 6000 volunteers so far.  Thus to controller reduce the rate of Accidents and Accident Deaths in this District and nearby.

FREE AWARENESS CLASSES

We are regularly conducting Awareness Classes (Health Education Classes) to the Students, Teachers Social Workers, Employees, Villagers and so on various subjects, such as Leprosy, Cancer, Aids, Hepatitis-B, Poliomyelitis, Envirolsanitation and ORS etc.

CONTINUOUS MEDICAL EDUCATION (C.M.E)

We are conducting Continuos Medical Education programmes for Doctors and Para Medical Staffs regularly.

CATARACT FREE PANCHAYATS

We have developed KOPPOM PANCHAYATH in Palakkad District and VALANCHERY PANCHAYATH in Malappuram District as CATARACT FREE PANCHAYATHS with the Co-operation of Kerala Health Services Department, during 1999-2000.  This was done by way of conducting survey and detection of cases from house to house and schools to schools, and from Free Detection Camps.  We are doing free surgeries and giving free treatment and supply of lenses on free of cost.

FREE CLINIC

We are conducting Free Clinic once in a week for the patients below the poverty line.  The treatment and investigations, medicines and surgery will be free of cost. 

DRUG BANK

We have set apart a Drug Bank and are distributing medicines free of cost to the poor patients from the Drug Bank under the supervision of Registered Pharmacist.

BLOOD DONORS FORUM

We have organized a Blood Donors Forum with the participation of all our Staff Members and Students.

BABY FRIENDLY HOSPITAL

Our Hospital is a Baby Friendly doing integrated Child Development Programmes.

BASE HOSPITAL FOR RHEUMATIC HEART DISEASES

To prevent and control R.F and R.H.D, the Rheumatic Heart Club, Kerala has declared this Hospital as Base Hozpital in the northen Kerala.

         and do needful measures improve the present health conditions.

6.      Adoption of  3 villages for the development of the Health condition of the people who are 

         under the Poverty line.

7.      To make three Cataract free Panchayaths.

8.      Conducting of School health programmes in the Educational Sub District of  Perinthalmanna 

         Child Psychiatry Programmes will be  extended to School Health Programme.

9.      First Aid Training for 5000 volunteers such as Teachers, Students, Drivers and other Social and 

         Cultural  Workers.

10.   Polio Re-Corrective Surgery for 200 victims.
