Orthopaedic Department started functioning in Moulana Hospital from the begining itself (1992). It is full fledged with all modern facilities. Orthopaedic Department is dealing with all sorts of Orthopaedic Traumas and sub specialities of Orthopaedics like, Sports Medicine, Paediatric Orthopaedics, Arthoplasty and Spine.

The Department is working as two units with alternate admission days.

Dr.Nazarudheen Palakkal MS(ortho) MRCS Ed(UK) graduated from Calicut medical College and obtained his Post graduate degree from M P shah medical college, Jamnagar.

After working at various hospitals at Trichur and Ernakulam, he went to UK for higher training in orthopaedics. He first worked at Royal Glamorgan hospital, South Wales, followed by Royal Liverpool University hospital, which is one of the highest upper limb trauma centre in England. He then worked in Broadgreen hospital, Liverpool and Alexandra hospital,Reditch , Birmingham where he underwent training  in hip and knee surgeries. At, Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, Leeds, he got training in arthroscopy under the efficient guidance of Dr.Wise the shoulder surgeon and Dr. Ankarath the hand surgeon. In 2006 , he got his MRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh.

From UK , Dr. Nazarudheen Palakkal  went to the Taipei Chang Gung Memorial Hospital,Taiwan , a world  renowned centre for sports medicine and completed a six month clinical  fellowship in arthroscopy and sports surgeries.

He is a life member of Indian Orthopaedic Association and he stills holds registration with General Medical Council,UK.

It was with this expertise in arthroscopies under his belt that, Dr.Nazarudheen Palakkal came back to his home town and joined the Maulana hospital as a consultant orthopaedic and arthroscopic surgeon.
